10 years of traditional interiors with a contemporary twist
We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Thurlestone Hotel since 2006 with a brief to provide sympathetic and relevant interior design advice and solutions in a demanding commercial setting.
After overwhelmingly positive reactions to the Spa refurbishment, expectations were high for the refurbishment of the principal Drawing Room and the Village Inn. The completed Drawing Room is a triumph of layering colours, textures and styles – to create a mature scheme that appears to have evolved as appealing items have become available. The ambiance changes as the day unfolds – bright and uplifting by day, warm and inviting as the evening draws in. The Village Inn shares this cosiness, owing in part, to a complex palette that embraces a worn floor, antiqued furniture and original artwork, but also an innovative wood burner, positioned centrally in the remodelled space. New signage is welcoming hoards of new visitors, who will surely become regulars!
‘We first appointed Ashton House Design in 2006 after careful consideration of other designs firms, to refurbish 12 Premier rooms. We liked the team, led by Simon Bantock, and believed they could produce a look that was traditional yet with a contemporary twist.
We were very pleased with the result and more importantly our guests liked these rooms so much that we have used Ashton House for further work. They have refurbished our entrance hall and reception area, cocktail bar, 12 new Deluxe rooms and bathrooms. A major overhaul and creation of our Voyage Spa followed, and most recently our main lounge and Village Inn pub attached to the hotel. They have worked closely with us to the achieve the result we wanted at a price we had agreed on, working with tradesmen and professionals but always with a very particular eye for detail. I have no hesitation in recommending Ashton House Design to anyone in the top-end hospitality business.’
