What did they think?

"We bought a manor house on the edge of Dartmoor that was in need of TLC and updating cosmetically as well as structurally (plumbing, electrics etc..). We live principally in London and this was to be our weekend/holiday home. As we are mainly based in London it was going to be difficult for us to furnish and oversee the contractors work so we instructed Ashton House Design principally to advise and source interior design solutions but they also liaised with the contractors on site as well as helping to source materials for the contractors. Happily for me they were happy to work directly with the contractors often pre-empting problems and helping to find solutions without needing to involve me, whilst still of course keeping me in the loop. My wife and I were extremely pleased with the finished design from Ashton House and found the process extremely enjoyable where it would have been quite daunting without them. There is always a concern that a designer will try and force their views and tastes onto you but early on it was apparent that not only would they be finding solutions to suit our tastes but that they had quickly picked up what our tastes were and therefore all the options they brought to us were good fits and in keeping with our tastes and the setting of the house. During the four months of the main works Simon and his team were on site extensively and would go about their work professionally and sympathetically to the various contractors on site. I cannot recommend Simon and his team highly enough both in terms of the quality of the design work but also in the professional way they handle all of the logistics whether it is onsite or liaising with contractors and suppliers off site.
