The Brief
About
Ashton House Design were appointed to help finish this contemporary new build. With the shell of the building in place there was scope for an entire rethink on architectural elements, lighting design, staircase, bathrooms, kitchen, joinery and more. These were all decisions to consider before any furniture or furnishings! We worked alongside our clients to bring about an interior transformation that would provide a colourful, practical and pet friendly interior.
The Results
We transformed a blank canvas into a characterful contemporary home.
Planning how the house would be used was key. From the practical porcelain floor tile mimicking concrete, overlaid with softening textural rugs, through to our robust upholstery choices.
With far reaching views to estuary and sea beyond, there was plenty of inspiration for both palette and pattern. Innovative wallcoverings include teal and silver cork, together with a large scale botanical print. We designed a striking central staircase surrounded by many features that take full advantage of the scale.
Complex lighting solutions feature both inside and out, incorporating task, ambient and sculptural arrangements. Hand-blown globes, waxed ‘mille feuille’ shades and architectural spoked pendants.
Bespoke joinery features in abundance, with textural wallpapered door fronts, tambour rollers and polished walnut amongst the detail.
The result? A home that befits its commanding coastal outlook. The interiors flow effortlessly with plenty of surprises and wow factors along the way.
